Materials Analyst
Nicola joined OMCS in 2015 as a materials analyst involved in scanning electron microscopy and the running of the atomic force microscopy service. Since then Nicola has also become greatly involved in thermal analysis techniques as well. Prior to this role, Nicola worked as a forensic scientist specialising in the examination and analysis of glass fragments recovered during criminal investigations and the interpretation of such findings. Nicola obtained her first degree in Biochemistry from Warwick University and then went on to achieve a Masters degree in Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology from Cranfield University. Nicola is still heavily involved in the analysis of forensic samples as part of her work at OMCS but she also frequently works on failure analysis cases and supports internal and external research groups with their analytical needs.
