Development Scientist and Quality Manager
Andrew trained as a materials scientist / metallurgist and his Ph.D. focused on investigating the relationship between grain refiner particles and secondary intermetallic phases in an aluminium alloy, both at the Department of Materials, University of Oxford. Since then he has participated in in-situ synchrotron X-ray experiments researching on solidification, liaised with industry on processing projects and provided primarily scanning electron microscopy / quantitative X-ray analysis, undertaken method validation to the requirements of ISO 17025 and Forensics Science Providers: Codes of Practice and Conduct, and dabbled with database design using Microsoft Access. He has also taken up the role of the OMCS quality manager and helps to run the X-ray computed tomography facility at Begbroke Science Park.
