About OMCS

OMCS was established in October 2002 as a point of contact for those wishing to access facilities and expertise within Oxford University Department of Materials. Facilities were augmented by the UK Technology Strategy Board's Micro Nano Technology programme with a range of equipment under the banner BegbrokeNano which was one of the 24 UK nanotech centres which were established under the previous Government to increase industry's ability to exploit micro and nanotechnology.

Now operating without any direct government support, OMCS continues to provide customers with services that they can rely on to compliment their in-house capabilities. OMCS operates a management system in compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, with the scope described as 'Materials Characterisation, Analysis & Advisory Services'. Since 2011, OMCS has been recognised as an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited facility for the elemental analysis of Glass and Glass products.
